THE WORK Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz by Susanne Kennedy und Markus Selg

She is not prepared to die, but it is not up to her, is it? She can prepare as much as she wants to, it is still going to happen. It happened. It is happening right now. Anyway who knows what there is on the other side? Maybe nothing. Maybe more of this? Which would mean we are already on the other side, right now. Now, that would be scary. Heaven and Hell everything right here, right now. And the theatre keeps playing. And we keep playing our roles.
THE WORK is a new piece by Susanne Kennedy and Markus Selg. The theatre installation revolves around the life and work of an artist staged as a retrospective. THE WORK also implies working on your own life. What does it all mean to look back at your own life and work while you’re still living? Xenia, the artist, lies dying while casting for one of her works, when suddenly everything seems out of control.
Susanne Kennedy has realized THE WORK in team with her ensemble Suzan Boogaerdt, Adriano Henseler, Antonia Maercklin, Jasper Middendorf, Montse Majench, Damian Rebgetz, Ibadet Ramadani, Bianca van der Schoot, Marie Rosa Tietjen, Antonia Wiedemann and Laurie Young.
